Made for Aurélien Castel's Alternative Soundtrack Jam #3!

The challenge was to reimagine a theme for a pre existing level, make something new and infuse your own ideas into something we know very well, and for this theme that was certainly a case! This theme is my re-imagining of the underground theme in Super Mario Bros for the NES, in a bit more of a modern style! I tried to mix some older ideas with the main instruments being a very tweaked 8 bit wave from Magical 8 Bit (i swear by this thing in everything) with some support from some soft pads which are actually just samples i took of my own voice, because why not.

Theme wise I wanted to take a different emotional approach to the level, instead of a more creepy and dingy atmosphere I wanted to approach this from a more wonderous perspective, I tried to infuse the song with more of a sense of adventure and curiosity through a building instrumental that goes from being more ambiguous to a much firmer positive energy, with still some room left to question as it fades into the loop.
